All-USFL safety Marcus Quinn got his wish Wednesday when the Oakland Invaders traded him to the Tampa Bay Bandits in exchange for several undisclosed draft choices.
Quinn demanded to be traded earlier this week because of a contract dispute with Invaders minority owner Tad Taube.
Quinn said Taube had promised him a salary increase during the league awards banquet in Tampa, Florida, last July but the owner recently reneged, saying the offer was not made seriously.
Quinn left practice last Thursday but returned the next morning and played last Sunday in the Invaders' 29-12 loss against Tampa Bay. He threatened to sit out this week if his demands were not met.
Quinn, who led the team with seven interceptions last year, signed a new three-year contract in 1984 hiking his base salary to $70,000 -- a raise of $20,000. But Quinn said he is still probably the lowest paid defensive back on his team.
Club President Vince Lombardi, who handles contract matters, would not comment. Quinn will replaced by veteran Oliver Davis.
