Doug Flutie accounted for a pair of touchdowns in his home debut Sunday, leading the New Jersey Generals to a 42-3 victory over the Los Angeles Express.

A crowd of 58,741 witnessed lackluster passing performances by two of football's highest paid quarterbacks -- Flutie and Los Angeles' Steve Young.

Flutie was 7-of-16 for 88 yards with one touchdown while Young finished just 6-of-13 for 59 yards with two interceptions and four sacks.

The Generals improved their record to (3-0) while the Express fell to (0-3).

Kerry Justin opened the scoring, intercepting Young and going 38 yards untouched into the endzone with 2:30 remaining in the opening frame to make the score 7-0. It was the first of Justin's two interceptions of the game.

Leading 14-3 at the half, New Jersey went ahead 21-3 when Sam Bowers hauled in a 24-yard pass from Flutie capping a 10-play, 72 yard drive with just under four minutes remaining in the third.

The Generals then scored three times in the final frame to round out the scoring.

Elsewhere on Sunday, Michigan downed Birmingham 30-17, Oakland stopped Pittsburgh 17-10, Denver rolled over Orlando 42-24 and San Antonio lost to Tampa Bay by a score of 24-23.
