'83 Chronology-Close To Home

Event Date: March 9th, 1983

Event Description: Stars Sign Ex-Eagle

Source: New York Times

John Bunting, the linebacker who was abruptly released by the Philadelphia Eagles a month ago, has found a new football home in Philadelphia -with the Stars of the United States Football League. Financial details were not disclosed, but Bunting's brother, Jim, a Philadelphia lawyer, said the two-year pact provided ''long-term security'', including an offseason coaching position.

Bunting had accused the Eagles of letting him go because of his vocal leadership as the team's player representative in last year's players strike, a charge the Eagles denied.
