At least one USFL coach doesn't agree that the USFL is a coaches' league.
“I've been around football quite a while and no one has been as coachable as these guys,” Dick Coury said after his Boston Breakers scored a 38-13 victory over the Gold Sunday at Denver's Mile High Stadium. “They deserve the credit. They worked their butts off.”

Richard Crump rushed for a pair of touchdowns and Marcus Marek returned a fumble 14 yards for another to lead the Breakers. Johnny Walton, who led the World Football League in passing in 1975 with 2,405 yards for the San Antonio Wings, passed to Charlie Smith early in the third stanza as the Breakers cruised to an easy victory.

“I really don't know how to explain this team,” Denver coach Red Miller said of his 0-2 Gold. “This is the second loss in a row. It is very hard for me to handle. The fumble return was a very, very big play,” Miller said. “There was a breakdown in the line, and there's no excuse for that. Some of the younger guys are not delivering and we are still looking for the right combinations.”

In other games Sunday, Philadelphia trounced New Jersey 49-32 and Birmingham edged Oakland 23-20 in front of a crowd of over 47,000 at the Oakland Coliseum.

On Saturday night, Chicago pounded Arizona 33-7 and Michigan edged Tampa 16-12.
