The Washington Federals of the U.S. Football League signed former Canadian Football League all-star Mike Holmes, a wide receiver who played the last six seasons with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, a spokesman said Saturday.
Holmes, 32, is the second CFL all-star receiver to sign with the Federals in the past 10 days, Federals' spokesman Rick Vaughn said. Joey Walters, who set a CFL record for most catches in a season with 101 last year with Saskatchewan, signed with Washington March 2.
Holmes, who played under Federals' head coach Ray Jauch the past five seasons at Winnipeg, led the team in receiving in 1979 and 1980.
