Defensive lineman Mike Raines, a former University of Alabama player, has been traded to Jacksonville for two draft choices in 1985, the Birmingham Stallions announced Tuesday.

Stallions' Coach Rollie Dotsch said the Jacksonville team would give Birmingham's high-round draft choice and a middle round draft choice in exchange for Raines, who led the Stallions with nine sacks last season.

The 6-foot-6, 265-pound lineman, a star for Alabama in the early 1970s, was drafted by the NFL's San Francisco 49ers in 1974. He played there one year and spent eight years in the Canadian Football League prior to joining the USFL Stallions.

"Mike made a very significant contribution to our football team last season and we want to thank him for that," said Dotsch. "We also want him to know he has our best wishes for success in Jacksonville."
