Football coach Mike White has put to rest rumors that he would leave Illinois for a career in the professional ranks, saying he does not plan “to pursue any pro coaching opportunity.”
White, who has a 17-15-1 record in his three years at Illinois, had been the focus of numerous rumors whether he would stay with the Illini.
In a statement Friday night after returning from a week on the West Coast, White said he had discussed a job with the new USFL franchise, the Arizona Wranglers, but was not interested. He said he had not been involved in discussions with the Los Angeles Rams.
