The New Orleans Breakers of the USFL signed four-year NFL veteran running back Hokie Gajan and a pair of reserve quarterbacks on Tuesday.

Gajan played for the New Orleans Saints from 1985 through the beginning of the 1985 season. He was released by the Saints after six games.

Breakers officials said Gajan was signed because of his dual abilities at running and receiving. Gajan has rushed for 1,358 yards with 63 receptions over the course of his NFL career.

“There should be some very interesting competition at running back at training camp,” said head coach Dick Coury. “We're looking forward to having Hokie working for a spot on our team.”

Gajan, a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana was drafted out of LSU back in 1981.

In addition to Gajan, the team has also come to terms with quarterbacks John Fourcade and Michael Williams. 

Fourcade was with the Memphis Showboats for part of last season and has also spent time in the CFL with the B.C. Lions. Fourcade is a  native of Gretna, Louisiana.

Michael Williams is the younger brother of Doug Williams. Williams has also spent time in the CFL with the Toronto Argos and B.C. Lions. Williams is a native of Zachary, Louisiana, and played for Eddie Robinson at Grambling University.
