The Oakland Invaders of the U.S. Football League Monday announced the firing of about a dozen front-office personnel, including publicity director Gino Effler and director of college scouting Bill Baker, Jr.
The merger of the Michigan and Oakland teams this past off-season has led to a reorganization of the front offces.
A club spokesman said the Invaders' front office from now until next March will consist of president Vince Lombardi Jr., director of football operations Mike Keller, business manager Mona Williams, assistant to the president Jill Gutenkunst and administrative assistant Sue Oliver.
The Michigan coaching staff will remain intact with head coach Jim Stanley taking over in Oakland.

This story combines a couple of different events. Michigan and Oakland merged in late 1984, with the players combining, the Oakland football and admin staffs generally surviving, and Michigan taking over senior management and ownership control. The Michigan coaches did not come to Oakland.
The UPI story referenced here is from July 1985 and is about the skeleton staff that stuck around for awhile after the USFL played its last game.
Thanks for the comment; of course because this is a simulation of fictional events many stories are combined, modified etc. from their original stories.
Since the Invaders were in such poor condition after the simulated 1986 season, it seemed a better fit to move in the staff from the much more successful Michigan team.
Thanks again as all comments are welcome!
