The United States Football League Wednesday vowed to press its multi-million dollar antitrust suit against the rival NFL, saying it will refuse out-of-court settlement offers.
USFL owners will meet this week outside of Orlando, home of the Renegades. League Commissioner Harry Usher said the owners voted unanimously to reject any settlement offer.
The USFL charges the NFL has impeded the spring league by unfairly cornering the market by raiding players, and coaches, dangling NFL teams into USFL markets like Arizona and by trying to monopolize television.
“We are very bullish, very bullish indeed, to get this trial going,” Usher said following an all-day closed meeting. He refused to comment when asked if the league's vote implied a settlement offer had been made by the NFL.
“We are very high on our chances with this lawsuit.”
