The Denver Gold signed former Army quarterback Leamon Hall and a half dozen other free agents to contracts for the 1986 season, a team spokesman said Wednesday.
The terms of the contracts were not announced by the team.
Hall, a 6’-5”, 215-pounder, was a free agent signed by the New Jersey Generals in 1983. Hall played for Army from 1974-77 and passed for over 5,500 with 38 touchdowns during his collegiate career.
The former Army star joins starter Vince Evans and backup Bruce Threadgill who was with the Houston Gamblers last season.
The signee with the most on field experience was John Barefield, a 6’-2”, 224-pound linebacker. Barefield was a second round pick by the the St. Louis Cardinals in 1978 and appeared in 30 regular season games over the course of three seasons. In 1983, he signed with the USFL and has spent time with the Gold, the L.A. Express and most recently with the San Antonio Gunslingers.
Other players signed included offensive lineman Arland Thompson, Bryan Dausin and Frank Kalil, linebacker Carlton Rose and defensive backs Lance Shields and Von Mansfield.
In addition to those moves, the team has traded DL Mike Taliaferro to the Arizona Outlaws in exchange for lineman Mark Buben.
