'86 Chronology-Stars Bow Out

The Stars missed out on the final playoff spot as Jeff Wickersham threw for 237 yards with one touchdown on 24-of-38 passing to lead the New Orleans Breakers to a 33-24 win over Philadelphia.
Frank Lockett caught six passes for 84 yards and Mark Schellen had 98 rushing yards and scored a touchdown for the Breakers (15-1), who could potentially host the championship game on July 13th.
Chuck Fusina completed 17-of-28 passes for 186 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions for the Stars (7-9), who are out of the playoffs for the first time. Ken Dunek had five catches for 65 yards and a touchdown in the setback.
"We had fate in our own hands and we didn’t come through," said Fusina. "We can't have all those turnovers. I can't make all those turnovers, not against a team like New Orleans. That's the bottom line."
The Breakers entered the fourth quarter trailing 24-20, but scored the final 13 points of the game.
Napoleon McCallum scored his second touchdown of the season in the third quarter...New Orleans will host Arizona next week in the first round of the playoffs.
In other early games, Chicago upset Jacksonville 26-24, Michigan topped Houston 16-10, and Birmingham won at home 31-10 over Orlando.

Very disappointing year for the Stars - the bottom sure dropped out in the second half of the season! :(
