After gaining only 39 yards on eleven carries in a 33-6 win over Jacksonville last week, Tampa Bay Bandits running back Joe Dudek is about to be replaced by Lars Tate.

“We're not getting a lot of production from our offense, but that doesn't mean it's Joe’s fault entirely,” head coach Jim Stanley said. “There's probably a number of reasons, not all him. I'm getting concerned with the fumbles as much as the yards per carry.”

“The truth is there's a lot of short, inside runs we're asking of him. That takes the yards per carry down as well as taking a physical toll. But in this league, you've got to make somebody miss, which is why we've implemented a multi- running back set for this weekend.”

Dudek has gained 252 yards on 57 carries in five games, a decent 4.4-yard average. He also has lost one of his two fumbles. Tate, the former Georgia University star, missed the start of the season with an ankle injury. He is practicing with the starting offense and a change appears imminent.

"I haven't had a lot of opportunities to establish myself as much as I have in years’ past," Dudek said. "I get six or seven carries a game, and not a lot of those carries are by the goal-line. I just take the plays I'm given. But it's hard being productive when you have limited opportunities. I don't want people saying I've lost a step," he continued. "I'm the same running back."
