'92 Chronology-Southern Stampede

Walter Lewis threw for 211 yards with two touchdowns on 20-of-28 passing to lead Birmingham over division rival Jacksonville by a score of 30-10 at Legion Field.

Paul Ott Carruth caught seven balls for 53 yards for the Stallions who won their ninth straight game and moved out to a three-game lead over the Bulls in the Southern division.

Charlie Brown added six receptions for 57 yards against his former team, and Brent Fullwood rushed seventeen times for 92 yards and Joey Jones also had a 56-yard reception for a score.

Tom Ramsey threw for 228 yards on 19-of-133 completions for the Bulls (6-3), who remain in second place one game ahead of Memphis. Carlos Huerta was 1-for-1 on field-goal attempts, while Mike Rozier was held to 13 rushing yards on eight carries.

An 46-yard Scott Norwood field goal with 8:19 left in the first put the Stallions on the board, then Tom Ramsey threw a ten-yard touchdown pass to Marc Lewis giving the Bulls a 7-3 lead late in the first quarter.

Walter Lewis connected on a 5-yard floater to Brown alone in the right corner of the end zone with forty one seconds to play in the half, as Birmingham took a 10-7 lead into the intermission.

Scott Norwood connected from 24 yards to push the Stallions to 13-7, and Brent Fullwood's one-yard plunge put Birmingham up 20-7 with 2:05 left in the third quarter.

Carlos Huerta added a 32-yard field goal with 14:41 to go in the third for a 20-10 game.

Another Lewis touchdown pass, this time to Joey Jones and another Norwood field goal rounded out the scoring in the final frame.

Game Notes;

Jacksonville lost starting wide out Perry kemp to an undisclosed injury in the first quarter, he did not return...Tom Ramsey was sacked four times in the loss... former Miami Dolphin Andre Brown led all receivers with 64 yards.

In other Week #9 USFL action; Michigan won at home against Memphis 24-14, New Jersey grabbed a road win in Tampa by beating the Bandits 35-27, Arizona downed New Orleans 18-10, and Baltimore beat Oakland 21-13.
