Mike Rozier's four-yard touchdown run with 9 1/2 minutes left in the fourth quarter proved to be the game-winning score, as the Jacksonville Bulls held off a physical Pittsburgh Maulers club, 27-23, at Three Rivers Stadium.

Rozier rushed a dozen times for 37 yards and caught one pass for ten yards to help the Bulls (5-2) win their second straight game. Tom Ramsey completed 16-of-23 passes for 301 yards. Perry Kemp again led the receiving corps with seven catches for 188 yards with two touchdowns.

Dozier led the way on the ground with 85 yards on 14 carries for the Maulers, who have lost two of their last three games. Mike Oliphant also ran for 58 yards on nine carries.

Tom Ramsey’s three touchdown passes helped Jacksonville dominate the entire first half, scoring 20 of the 23 points in the half to take a commanding 20-3 lead. Ramsey found Perry Kemp for two of the scores with the third coming from Marc Lewis.

Pittsburgh then came out of the locker room a different team in the second half to make a game of it.

The Maulers first drive of the second half was capped off with a four-yard touchdown run by Major Harris. During Pittsburgh's next possession, Harris needed just three plays to hook up with Willie Collier on a 16-yard score.

A Dan Plocki field goal from 22-yards out tied the game at 20-20 at the beginning of the fourth quarter.

With the score tied at 20-20, the Bulls started a drive at the Maulers 27 following the Pittsburgh kick-off. Rozier ran for six and four yards on first and second down, respectively, to give Jacksonville a fresh set of downs. After Ramsey connected with Eric Seiver for a 31-yard pass play, Rozier took a handoff from Ramsey and rushed into the end zone from four yards out with 9:30 minutes to play.

The Bulls' defense then came up big for the remainder of the quarter, holding the Maulers to another field goal to round out the scoring.
