Ben Bennett threw two touchdown passes to lead the Tampa Bay Bandits past the Jacksonville Bulls, 33-6, at the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville.
Bennett went 16-of-29 for 385 yards with no interceptions and one sack. Eric Truvillion caught two of Bennett's touchdown passes for the Bandits, who won their first game of the season.
Tom Ramsey finished 16-of-28 for 219 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions for Jacksonville, which remains in a tie for fourth place with Memphis and New Orleans.
Tampa Bay opened up the scoring in the first quarter on Obed Ariri's 22-yard field goal before Carlos Huerta tied things up at 3-3 after he nailed a 44-yarder for Jacksonville.
In the second quarter Ben Bennett came through with a 44-yard touchdown strike to Eric Truvillion to make it a 10-3 Bandits advantage. Then, after a Jacksonville turnover, Obed Ariri's 28-yarder extended the Bandits advantage to ten points.
The Bulls’ responded with another field goal, this time from 27 yards out, to cut the Tampa lead to 13-6.
With time running down in the second quarter, Rod Harris scampered for an 89-yard kick-off return for a touchdown to put his team up 20-6 heading into halftime.
Eric Truvillion provided the highlight of the game late in the fourth, tipping the ball with one hand to avoid the defender and then corralling it with the other hand for a 62-yard touchdown reception that made it 33-6. Obed Aririr's two second-half field goals capped the scoring.
Game Notes;
The Bandits were the league's only winless team after the first month of the season...Tampa receiver Eric Truvillion finished with seven receptions for a team record 250 yards.
